Many of us know Wilmer Valderrama from his lovable performance as Fez in the hit comedy series That ’70s Show. But he’s also known for something else – his lengthy romantic history. The actor has dated quite a few famous women over the years, but now it seems he is finally settling down after proposing to his girlfriend. So, who exactly is Wilmer’s mysterious new fiancée?
Mandy Moore (2000-2002)
Wilmer dated actress Mandy Moore between 2000 and 2002, back when she was 15 and working on teen movies like The Princess Diaries. In 2006, long after they broke up, Valderrama talked to Howard Stern on his show and made comments regarding his intimate relationship with Mandy. He also claimed that her experience with him was her first, which the actress later denied – vehemently. Speaking to Howard Stern herself recently, Moore called what Valderrama said tacky and not true. As the two remained good friends, she was shocked to hear him making such ugly remarks about their relationship.
Mandy Moore now
Mandy Moore has other things on her plate today, including being the star of the hit drama This is Us, as well as voicing Rapunzel in the Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure animated TV series. Since her breakup with Wilmer, she’s had several relationship, and even married singer-songwriter Ryan Adams in 2009. The two divorced in 2016, and the actress began dating another musician, Taylor Goldsmith – so we guess she has a type. The couple got married in 2018, and are still going strong. Fun aside: in 2019 Moore reached the Everest base camps. Not the summit, but still impressive!
Lindsay Lohan (2004)
Lindsay Lohan began dating Valderrama in 2004. As she was 17 and he was 24, they kept things under wraps until her 18th birthday – after which they promptly moved in together. Unfortunately, their PDA-packed romance didn’t last more than a few months, and ended just two weeks after Lindsay’s guest appearance on That ’70s Show. And apparently, she took it pretty hard, as she later admitted her single “Over” was inspired by the young actor who broke her heart – and spoke on a sitcom with a funny accent.
Lindsay Lohan now
Lindsay Lohan became famous young , appearing in the movie The Parent Trap, and she’s currently playing the role of Katerina West on the comedy Sick Note. But aside from acting, she also has a few other gigs. She has owned two resorts in Greece, but one has reportedly closed. She’s also spokesperson for a tech company called Lawyer.com, which connects people with lawyers (which is ironic considering her past run-ins with the law). In terms of dating, and this is one of the most outlandish rumors we’ve ever heard, she’s recently been linked to the Saudi crown prince.
Minka Kelly (2012, 2016)
Actress Minka Kelly was rumored to be dating Wilmer back in 2012, though it was never confirmed. In 2016, it was reported that the two were back together, having dinners and even hanging out in Mexico together. Minka denied being in a relationship with Valderrama, but someone else outed the truth – Mandy Moore. Mandy, who’s apparently close friends with Minka, was asked whether she felt weird about it (since Wilmer is her ex). Instead of denying it, she said it wasn’t weird at all – because the three of them are close.
Minka Kelly now
Minka Kelly is an actress who’s mostly known for her roles in the TV drama Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and the series reboot of Charlie’s Angels. She dated baseball player Derek Jeter between 2008 and 2011, and briefly again in 2012. The actress was also rumored to be in a relationship with Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams, who had just separated from his wife (after 13 years together). The 40-year-old actress isn’t seeing anyone at the moment, so maybe there’s hope of another reunion with Wilmer?
Ashlee Simpson (2005)
Valderrama was also linked to singer-songwriter Ashlee Simpson (sister to singer and actress Jessica Simpson), in 2005. Even though it was just rumors, Wilmer didn’t leave her out when talking about his ex-girlfriends on The Howard Stern Show. He actually called her a “screamer,” without giving any further details – or context – on the matter. We’ll let you form your own conclusions. It’s reported that Lindsay Lohan accused the singer of stealing Wilmer from her, which inspired Simpson’s song “Boyfriend” – but Ashlee had denied the song being about Wilmer.
Ashlee Simpson now
Ashlee Simpson has moved on since Wilmer, marrying rocker Pete Wentz in 2008. After four years of marriage, the two filed for divorce in 2011. The star later went on to date actor Evan Ross, the son of legendary diva Diana Ross, and after only a seven months of dating they announced their engagement. Ashlee and Evan married in 2014, and have a daughter together (as well as a son from her previous marriage). Although she retired from acting, she’s now working on releasing her fourth album after an 11-year hiatus.
Avril Lavigne (2009)
Canadian punk-pop singer Avril Lavigne has been singing from a young age, and rose to fame when she released her first album, Let Go. After several years of marriage to Deryck Whibley, lead vocalist of the band Sum 41, she filed for divorce in 2009. And while she later went on to dating Brody Jenner and Chad Kroeger, she reportedly dated Wilmer Valderrama first, right after her separation from Whibley. The became friends after working together on documentary Fast Food Nation, and apparently things heated up later on.
Avril Lavigne now
You could definitely say that Avril Lavigne is one of the most significant artists in the punk-pop genre. Although she married Chad Kroeger in 2013, the couple filed for divorce just a couple of years later. Avril dated billionaire heir Phillip Sarofim, the son of the Texan Fayez Sarofim, for a year. He definitely wasn’t a skater boy, but they seemed like a cute couple. Unfortunately, after a year they went their separate ways, and the Canadian punk princess has most recently been linked to fellow singer Pete Jonas.
Christina Milian (1998)
Wilmer Valderrama and singer and actress Christina Milian reportedly dated each other as teenagers in 1998, but their relationship didn’t last very long – only a few months, if you believe the papers. However, in 2006 there were some pretty persistent rumors that the two were rekindling their flame once again. Christina, who was dating rapper and music producer Dr. Dre at the time, denied the dating rumors and said that even though he’s a very nice guy, she’s been nothing but loyal to her partner, Dre.
Christina Milian now
Christina Milian is known for being a musical artist, but she’s actually done quite a lot of acting in the course of her career. Other than her relationship with legendary West Coast rapper Dre, she was also married to R&B singer-songwriter The-Dream in 2009, having eloped in Las Vegas. The two divorced just two years later, however, in 2011. The artist and actress is currently dating another musician, French singer-songwriter M. Pokora, who’s also a coach in The Voice Kids France. They have one son together, born in 2020.
Jessica Biel (2007)
Actress Jessica Biel starred alongside Wilmer Valderrama in his 2001 big screen debut – the rom-com Summer Catch. But it was only six years later, in 2007, that the two were actually spotted together off-set, as they were seen dancing the night away to Latin music at a hotel. Rumors had it they were turning up the heat and were dating for a few months. And let’s just say if there’s any truth to these rumors, Wilmer Valderrama is no doubt a very lucky guy.
Jessica Biel now
Jessica Biel became famous when she was cast as Mary in the family drama 7th Heaven. She then worked mainly in film, showing off her talent in romantic comedy and drama movies with equal success. Not long after reportedly dating Wilmer, Jessica Biel began dating her current husband, actor and singer Justin Timberlake. The two were a love story from the very beginning. They eventually decided to get hitched in 2012, and have been growing strong ever since as one of Hollywood’s favorite couples.
Eva Longoria (2012)
Eva Longoria was also spotted with Valderrama, first during the funeral of her Desperate Housewives co-star, Lupe Ontiveros. Kind of an odd place to “come out,” but who are we to judge? The actress was seen comforted by Wilmer, as she was extremely upset at the loss of her co-star and dear friend. After that, the two were seen together several times, resulting in plenty of dating rumors. The couple was even seen attending a play together in L.A., where they were spotted holding hands and acting like a couple.
Eva Longoria now
Even though she played a major role in the soap The Young and the Restless, Eva Longoria truly became a household name by playing Gabriel in the mystery dramedy Desperate Housewives. And after dating Wilmer, she met the man who would soon become her husband. In 2015, she became engaged to Mexican businessman José Bastón, and the two married in 2016. Not bad considering they met on a blind date and Bastón didn’t even know who she was! The two have a son together, Santiago, and Eva recently stated how much she loves being a mom.
Mischa Barton (2004)
Mischa Barton was one of Hollywood’s biggest up-and-comers when she landed the lead role in the teen drama The O.C. Man, that seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it? In a sense, it sort of was. Soon after making it big, Barton was having issues – she was partying too hard and acted badly on set, until she was ultimately fired. Before that happened, though, she reportedly dated Wilmer Valderrama. After presenting an award together at the Teen Choice Awards, she and Valderrama became a thing, and dated for a little while before going their separate ways.
Mischa Barton now
Mischa Barton was an “it girl” before she got swept up in the Hollywood partying life. She was booted off The O.C., true, but has since cleaned up her act and picked up her career more or less where she left off. In 2017, she dated Australian model James Abercrombie, son of lawyer and politician Andrew Abercrombie and heir to his large fortune. The two seem to have called things off in 2019, and as for now, the actress is apparently single and focusing on her work.
Sofia Vergara (2003)
Needless to say, Valderrama has dated some pretty gorgeous girls, but Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara may just take the cake. Back in 2003, the star was seen cozying up in public with the Colombian-born actress. He was 23 years old at the time and she was 31 years old, but frankly, we wouldn’t mind the age difference either if we were dating Sofia Vergara! It wasn’t a lasting relationship, but the two were seen out and about together years later, so it must not have ended on bad terms.
Sofia Vergara now
Sofia Vergara began her career modeling before she became an actress, and is now most famous for her role as Gloria on Modern Family. When she was only 18, she married high school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, with whom she shares a son. The two divorced in 1993, but we wouldn’t Sofia did alright. She was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb after dating for two years, but the engagement was called off. In 2015, she married True Blood actor (and total heartthrob) Joe Manganiello. On top of that, she was the highest paid actress on TV for a time.
Popping the question
Wilmer rang in the 2020 New Year with some pretty exciting news for his fans – namely, that he had proposed to his girlfriend of nine months Amanda Pacheco! After celebrating New Year’s Eve together in Mexico, the pair headed to San Diego where Wilmer got on one knee and popped the question right on the beach. Luckily, he was able to capture the stunning moment, or had someone do it for him. Now does that look like something out of one of our favorite romance movies?
Who is Amanda Pacheco?
So who exactly is Amanda Pacheco? Unfortunately, not much is known about Wilmer’s soon-to-be wife, as she prefers to keep a more private, low-profile life than some of the other women Wilmer has famously dated. What is known, however, is that she is 28 years old and is currently working as a model, while also being a certified dive instructor. The newly engaged pair were first romantically linked to each other back in April 2019, after being spotted hanging out together in L.A., and we guess things progressed naturally from there.
Mila Kunis (1999)
Wilmer Valderrama and Mila Kunis were co-stars on the popular comedy series That ’70s Show, which aired from 1998 to 2006 and made them both stars. Their characters, Jackie and Fez, eventually became an item on the show, but rumors had it that the two were together off-screen as well. Although we would love it if Jackie and Fez were dating in real life, neither of them ever confirmed these dating rumors. Mila did say, however, that Wilmer was the one who taught her how to drive. How sweet!
Mila Kunis now
Mila Kunis rose to stardom when she was cast to play Jackie in That ’70s Show, alongside Wilmer Valderrama. She became a successful actress, mostly doing comedy flicks like Friends with Benefits and Ted, and most recently The Spy who Dumped Me. She also voices Meg in the hit Seth McFarlane show Family Guy. In 2015, Mila did actually one of her That ’70s Show co-stars… it just wasn’t Fez! Of course, Kunis tied the knot with Ashton Kutcher, and they definitely make one of Hollywood’s cutest couples to date. They have two children together.
Jennifer Love Hewitt (1999)
Back in 1999, there were rumors of a relationship between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Wilmer Valderrama. When Wilmer went on Howard Stern’s show, he admitted to being involved with the Party of Five actress, but didn’t give any specifics. Well, except for one – when Stern asked him to “rate her” on a scale of one to ten, he replied with an eight. Jennifer, obviously, didn’t love hearing about that, and went on to deny it, saying she “would have loved to have been there.” Ouch!
Jennifer Love Hewitt now
The talented Jennifer Love Hewitt began as a child actress and was made famous when she joined the cast of family drama Party of Five. She’s since taken part in TV shows and movies, and even released four musical albums that were an especially big hit in Japan. In 2013, she married actor Brian Hallisay, after which they welcomed two children – a boy named Atticus and a girl named Autumn. The actress is currently playing Maddie on the first-response drama 9-1-1, and has been doing so since the show’s second season.
Demi Lovato (2010-2016)
Singer Demi Lovato was perhaps Wilmer’s most significant relationship, and definitely the longest one. The couple met when she was still 17, and she was immediately taken with him – but the actor said he wanted nothing to do with her, since she was still underaged. Though she pursued him, he actually rejected her advances at first. When she turned 18 in 2010, the two finally began dating and had quite the intense on-and-off relationship, until finally calling it quits in 2016.
Demi Lovato now
Heartbreakingly, Demi was hospitalized in July, 2018, after taking too many illicit substances, leaving her fans – and Wilmer – devastated. Despite their breakup, the actor stood by her side, visiting her several times in the hospital. According to reports, he had felt that they never fell out of love, and when someone you love needs you, you should be there for them. In fact, there were even rumors that he was planning on proposing, until his more recent engagement to his new girlfriend, that is. To understand why the two are so close, however, we need to go back.
How it all started
Demi met Wilmer when the two signed on to shoot a public service announcement together, but the truth is, that announcement was the last thing on her mind. She later admitted she only agreed to do it since she knew it would be at his house, and thought he was cute. With a 13-year age gap between them, though, it wasn’t going to be easy. Happily for her, the two still commenced a relationship – one that would ultimately last for a long time.
The couple had their ups and downs during the years they dated, including a separation in 2012. However, after a short while, they were already back together and growing strong. Their relationship was an intense one, as one could see by their very public statements towards each other. They would post pictures on Instagram, and their captions would always express their fierce and extraordinary love for one another. It all seemed so perfect, so what about taking the next step?
Well, these two were so publicly in love, engagement rumors were soon to follow (as they often do). Indeed, in 2015 Demi was asked whether the two were planning on tying the knot, and replied that they would probably wait a little longer… but that if he asked she would definitely say yes. She also stated that she wouldn’t mind seeing a ring on her finger soon! Unfortunately, though, their relationship wouldn’t endure for much longer after that.
Ending on good terms
In 2016, Demi and Wilmer decided to end their relationship, making a public announcement about their separation. Demi and Wilmer seemed to be madly in love while dating each other, but they also remained great friends even after their relationship ended. They appeared to be stronger than ever. And somehow, it seemed to everyone as if these two weren’t completely over. Of course, Wilmer has since moved on with his new fiancée, but fans still can’t help but wonder why him and Demi ever broke up in the first place.
The reason behind it
As Demi had stated in the past, their breakup wasn’t about their feelings for each other – or lack thereof, actually. Demi had been battling mental health issues and substance abuse for years. She had said being unwell was always part of her relationship with Wilmer, and she needed to figure things out on her own. Today, it seems like both the singer and the actor have moved on, with Demi focused on her health and Wilmer now engaged to be married.
